Rufus has many issues in his 5 years, but none more disturbing than his relationship with his stuffed bunny friend. Here he is snuggling with it (at least he’s not sucking on it (don’t ask, you don’t want to know) ).

So, as some of you know, I’ve been going to the gym on a regular basis. Tonight I got home from work, played around a bit on the
computer and then went to the gym. I had an awesome workout, running 5 1/2 miles and working my flabby-flabby abs for a while. I was sweaty and ready for a shower, so I went to the locker room and began to spin the dial on my combo lock only to find that I had forgotten the combination! Oh no, what am I going to do? Should I go tell someone and embarrass myself by having them cut the lock? No, instead I sat there like a moron and tried every combination I could think of. Nothing worked! Not wanting to look like the wierdo on the floor spinning a dial while other people changed, I left and walked around the gym. I came back about 2 minutes later and tried again…nothing. I left again, ran a mile, came back and…..nothing. As you might imagine, this happened about 5 or 6 times. I ended up running 2 1/2 more miles, doing more crunches and biking for 2 miles throughout this whole process. Oh and don’t let me forget, it was friends and family day (which I didn’t know about) and while I was wandering around, some girl got me to enter a raffle for free laser hair removal! HAHAHA….I’m pathetic! So I finally remembered that my combination was at home, called Sharilyn and she supplied me with the number. I wasted about 1 hour trying to remember that dumb thing. I think I have alzheimers or something.

There are so many moments like this in our house, I just can’t believe that I got this one on film. For some reason, the two just seem very startled/curious/bothered/confused by whatever I’m doing at the time.

I was just thinking about how much I’ve enjoyed my Kindle over the past few weeks, so I thought I’d write about it. I bought the Amazon Kindle a few weeks ago and I couldn’t be happier with it. Since it is the 21st century, I thought it time to invest in a proper e-book reader that would allow me to store all of my books and allow me to download and shop for new ones. The Kind
le delivers all of the powerful features that one would expect from a device of it’s calibur. I can purchase discounted books from the Amazon Store, read reviews, try samples of books, subscribe to newspapers and even surf the internet. The first book I bought was the Bible followed with the daily New York Times, Chuck Palahniuk’s Rant and a slew of trial books. I like the option to read through a portion of the book like you would while you were in the bookstore. The Kindle allows easy access to the content in your library as well by actually giving the ability to search through the book’s text. The searching ability is not limited to your books but also includes the dictionary, wikipedia and google. The Kindle connects to the store over a very high speed EVDO modem which comes in handy when surfing the internet.
The battery life is amazing, lasting about a week on a charge during even the most strenuous use. The screen is super easy to read due to the special digital ink technology which allows the display to change and not use much battery power in the process. The only downside to the Kindle, in my own opinion, is the strange layout of the buttons which causes some accidental page turns from time to time. Other than that minor issue, there is nothing that would keep me from recommending it to someone as a permanent fixture in their daily arsenal of digital gadgets. In the words of Faris Bueller, “If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.”

There’s a rather large fire here in the southwest valley, the ethan fire. The fire started on Wednesday and we could see the orange glow of the 100 acre fire as we drove home from services. Now it’s at about 5,400 acres and it’s threatening many homes. I took these photos as clouds were developing around the fire. It sure is amazing how God’s creation can be so beautiful and scary all at the same time.

hey there! I just found out from a little bird that mobile me mail actually works! So it would seem that if you previously had a .mac email account that anything sent to your @me.com email will get automatically delivered to your @mac.com account. pretty cool, considering that there are a lot of @mac.com accounts out there. I can’t wait to see what the Apple cloud is going to be like. Hopefully it will provide the level of synchronization between all the devices that everyone promised

So I’ve bought a new car and I was thinking about getting another personalized license plate like the one I had previously (COFFEEE). I looked on the DMV’s website and I think I’ve come up with this one. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get it or not since I haven’t really received any registration information on my car, but it would be pretty cool. Let me know what you think.

So Brook is about to have surgery on Tuesday. She has another spot like the one that showed up in her ear when we first got her, only this time it’s on her toe. I think it’s pretty routine but who knows how she’s going to handle it being on her foot. She dances around the yard right now since it hurts her to walk on it, so I’m hoping that everything goes well. Keep us/her in your prayers please.
